Darien, CT (May 15, 2013) – As a prelude to the 2014 Ryder Cup (September 26-28) at Gleneagles, Scotland, a group of North America’s leading golf tour operators journeyed to the Home of Golf to experience some of the best golf properties in Northern Scotland.
Known worldwide for its historic links courses, Scotland is consistently one of the most requested foreign destinations for golf travelers. Now, with the USA and European Ryder Cup Teams scheduled to compete next year, there is a high level of interest to experience this corner of the globe where the game has flourished for centuries.
“With the addition of Trump International and Castle Stuart, along with the classics like Royal Dornoch and Royal Aberdeen, the northern region of Scotland may be the best links golf destination anywhere on the planet,” says Jason Scarth, of Britannia Golf.
To assist in enlightening their North American golf travel clients, NAGTOA representatives were hosted by Visit Scotland, Highland Golf Links and a number of quality properties as they toured the countryside courtesy of St. Andrews Executive Travel coach.
The line-up of courses played included: Alisa Course (Turnberry); Machrihanish Dunes; Machrihanish Old; Royal Dornoch GC; Castle Stuart GC; Nairn GC; Royal Aberdeen GC; and the latest links on the Scottish landscape at Trump International GL.
Luxury accommodations were provided by: Turnberry Resort; Ugadale Hotel & Cottages (Machrihanish); Crowne Plaza Glasgow; Kingsmills Hotel and Culloden House (Inverness); Meldrum House (Aberdeenshire); Marcliff Hotel & Spa (Aberdeen); and Channings Edinburgh.
As the Scottish stage prepares for next year’s international golf competition, NAGTOA will be continuing to send golfers on a pilgrimage that will create memories forever.
